PETER CARBONARA Obituary

CARBONARA--Peter N., M.D. Peter N. Carbonara, M.D., age 95, died peacefully at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ, on January 7, 2026, with his family and caregiver and friend Janet Atia by his side. Accomplished orthopedic surgeon, proud Navy veteran, Columbia and Boston University graduate, husband and father, he was a singular character. He loved dogs, cats, bow ties, opera and his friends and family, particularly his late wife Jean McNally M.D., whom he married in Rome in 1960. He was predeceased by his brother Frank and sister Vita. He is survived by children Peter, Paul, John and Mary; grandchildren Nick, Nellie, August and Evan; daughter-in-law Betsy Brevitz; son-in-law Robert Moses; sister-in-law Frances Carbonara and cousin Cornelia Reina. "The elements so mixed in him, that nature might stand up and say to all the world, 'This was a man.' "
