John Hall Obituary

John William Hall Jr., 88, of Richmond, Texas, passed away on July 15, 2025, at his home in Richmond. He was born on Nov. 26, 1936, in Latrobe, in the township of Derry, to the late John Hall Sr. and Margaret Hall. This devoted and loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend will be missed. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Agnes McGinnis (James McGinnis) and Jane Rudzinski (Stanley Rudzinski). He is survived by his spouse, Darren E. Vass; and his nieces and nephews, Susan McKee (Thomas McKee), Peggy Street (Richard Street), Diane Umbaugh (Mark Umbaugh), John McGinnis, James McGinnis (Cindi McGinnis), Eric Rudzinski, Amy Paczkoskie (Vincent Paczkoskie), and David Rudzinski (Jennifer Rudzinski). John was born and raised a Catholic. John was an oblate of St. Benedict for 68 years. He attended and graduated from St. Vincent College with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. John also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in fine arts. He spent most of his life as a music educator. He was an accomplished classical pianist, avid needlepoint enthusiast, and an award-winning volunteer who volunteered in open-heart surgery for many years. There is no visitation. Family and friends are invited to a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Vincent Basilica Parish, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.
