Evelyn Gompert Obituary
She was born on March 6, 1927, at home on the Schmidt farm, in Arlington, Wisconsin. The daughter of the late Harry and Minnie (Stoltenberg) Schmidt.
Evelyn was a 1945 graduate of Poynette High School. She continued her education, earning her associate's degree in accounting from Madison Business College. After her college graduation, she joined Reitan-Lerdahl Insurance Agency with whom she worked until her marriage to Kenneth Gompert on May 9, 1953, at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Madison.
Evelyn and Kenneth then moved to Colorado where she was employed with Attys. Holme, Roberts and Owen as their Accounting Supervisor for over 35 years. She was a trusted and hardworking businesswoman.
In 1988, Evelyn and Kenneth moved back to Arlington to care for her parents. They were valued members of Arlington United Methodist Church, and she served as the treasurer for many years.
Evelyn took pride in her home and hosted many holidays with the best-set table and delicious food. She and Kenneth enjoyed golfing, taking drives (often ending in ice cream stops, as "there's always room for ice cream" she would say), and dining out with friends.
Evelyn is survived by cousins Randy Reuter and Jody Haak-Reuter, Chelsea Reuter-Seng and John Seng and their son Luke, Rodney and Jennifer Reuter, Bryan and Whitney Reuter and their children Alayna and Hunter, Ashley and Andy Lemar and their children Myles, Finnley and Penelope, and Andrew Reuter and fiancé Holly Mcalpin and many other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth, her parents, and cousins Ervin and Ruby Ann Schmidt, Elizabeth Reuter, and Robert and Darlene Schmidt.
Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, at 11:00 am on Saturday February 15, 2025, with Chaplain Derek Rosenstiel presiding. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gunderson Lodi Funeral & Cremation Care from 10:00 am until the time of service on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
