Turie Knapik

October 26, 1941 - June 6, 2025

Kennewick, Washington - Turid Oddveig Knapik, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on 6/6/2025 at the age of 83.

Born on 10/26/1941 in Eikefjord Norway, Turie was the daughter of Torfinn and Herlaug Veien. The family came to the Unites States in 1948 and they settled in Troy, Idaho where they farmed. Turie graduated from Troy High School in 1960.

Throughout her life, Turie was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She married Frank (Skip) Knapik on 9/11/1965, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they raised two children: Bryan and Anna-Lise, who will forever be grateful for her love and support.

Turie had a passion for being at her grandkids every sporting event, baking pies, cinnamon twists and cooking meals for everyone, which she enjoyed with great enthusiasm. She was known for her amazing baking, and her BESTA tag (Grandma in Norwegian) will always be remembered by those who knew her best.

Turie is survived by Skip, Bryan (Melissa) and Anna-Lise. Along with six grandchildren, Bryson (Madi), Ayden, Dakota, Peyton, Karsyn and Nathan along with many other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

A viewing service to honor and say goodbye to Turie's life will be held at Mueller's Funeral Home, located at 1401 S Union St Kennewick, WA 99338, on 6/12/2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Turie's life will be held at Short's Funeral Home, located at 1225 E 6th St. Moscow, ID 83843 on Saturday 6-14-25 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Turie Knapik's memory to Alzheimer's Association, which was near and dear to her heart.

Turie loved her IDAHO Vandals Football dearly and never missed a chance to cheer them on.

TRUBUTE TO A WONDERFUL FRIEND

To Skip, Bryan, Anna-lise & to the rest of your wholesome family, may it be of comfort that our thoughts and Prayers are with you at this difficult times.
Loss of a spouse is profound. Words cannot express the sorrow & pain for the loss of a love one. We too will miss her immensely.
Having known Turie for some 50 years, she has been more like a trusted sister than just a friend or neighbor or co-worker in the medical field, We remember the days when she worked at the office where she would light up the spirits of the patients with her cheerful smile & warm greetings. It was apparent that she allays their stress, anxieties & fears with her pleasant personality, compassion & genuine empathy as they come for their chemotherapy treatments. She was a great & valuable asset in the office. Yes, Turie was truly a wonderful lady. She was more of a sister than just a friend & neighbor. We both have two children of the same ages all 4 of them graduating from Kennewick High. We feel like family especially having lived in the same home & neighborhood for the past 50 years. We feel & share your sorrow. Our children will surely miss the cookies, cinnamon rolls & other delicious pastries she bakes on Christmas day.
We pray that your grief would be brief and celebrate her life for she's now at peace & resting with the Lord.
