Patricia Spaulding Obituary

Born July 26, 1932, died peacefully in her beloved Tucson on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Patti is the daughter of Ralph J and Marvle E Myers. She is survived by her daughter Susan Lee (Richard), daughter Edith Kathryn who preceded her in death, granddaughter Jessica Calis (Jacob), niece Frankie Koch, sister Rogene Covell (Tom), brother Frank Myers (Beverly), two bonus daughters Mary Bernal (Raymond), and Sarah Smallhouse (David) and many nieces and nephews. Patti moved with her family from Corning, Kansas in 1947 to Tucson. While attending high school, she worked at the Fox Theater as head cashier. After graduation, she was a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and worked at Hughes Aircraft Company where she met and later married Edward K Spaulding who preceded her in death in 2003. She was creative in so many ways, she modeled, and successfully opened and operated Patti's Tucson Tours.

For 22 years, she worked as the Director of Tourism at the Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau where she traveled the world promoting Tucson, Southern Arizona and at times, the entire state of Arizona. Patti attended different Trade Shows all over the world. She traveled to New Zealand, Israel, Australia, Japan, Canada, Ireland, U.K., France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Amsterdam, Denmark and of course, the USA. Patti's tireless efforts promoting Tucson to the world earned her several prestigious awards. Her knowledge and love for Tucson put Tucson on the map in International Markets. Her dedication, her motivation, and her kind and caring personality made everyone feel like they belonged to Tucson. Patti was known worldwide, developed lifetime friendships, and impacted every single person's life she met. She had a smile that no one can forget! We will forever love and celebrate her life!

There are some people in this world that simply sparkle, full of energy and interest in everyone and everything around them. Patty was a sparkler! She and my Mom, along with good friend Margaret, all worked at Hughes, and from that time they were lifelong friends. I so appreciated her kindness and friendship.
A lovely lady who touched so many, making this world a kinder place.

I grew up with Patti in my life. She and my mom became good friends while both working at Hughes Aircraft. My dad, like Ed, was also a Hughes guy so they did things as couples. After quitting Hughes to raise kids my mom worked for Patti at the Tucson Convention Bureau. My mom loved these jobs. They were exciting and fun. Patti knew everyone and my mom met so many interesting people. They continued seeing each other after they both were widowed...doing lunch, celebrating birthdays etc. Patti´s vivacious energy will be felt for years to come. She was a firecracker.
