Ronald Garry Obituary

Ronald E. Garry, 76, died on May 14th, 2025. He was surrounded by family and friends after spending 34 days in the ICU unit at St. Mary's Hospital. This was after a cascade of complications after open heart surgery. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Garry of 50 years and their son Christopher Goodwill and his siblings, Robin Crowell, Randy Garry and Leslie Garry and daughter, Mattison Garry. He was especially close to his niece, Emily Arvidson Morgan. Ron was a captain on the Tucson Fire Department for 25 years. He was also an accomplished contractor, building homes and remodeling for over 40 years. He worked later in life for Spectral Instruments caring for their buildings and doing custom metal work. All of Ron's life he had a love of motorsports. He would race anything he could from motorcycles, go-carts to cars. He was a man of many talents. Last but not least was his love and passion for ALL animals. Over the years he and his wife took in close to 30 dogs and cats. There was a squirrel named Sweetie and a mouse named Stewart and many birds. Most of all were the javelinas that came to visit him in his home shop. He built a water trough for them and got to know just how tough their life was. He loved each and every one of them and helped them when he could. There was usually a javelina hanging out in his shop with him. There will be a celebration of his life on June 2nd, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Union Hall, 2430 N. Huachuca Dr. in Tucson, Az. In lieu of flowers please donate to an organization that helps homeless animals. His favorites were HoofsnHorns Farm Sanctuary and Ironwood Pig Sanctuary.

39 1/2 years ago, the Mattses met the Garrys. How lucky we were to have the perfect neighbors. 33 years ago, as Richard was leaving this life, he told Ron and everyone else that we could not have had a better friend and neighbor than Ron.
Thank you, Ron, for four decades.
Much love,
Noreen and Megan

Ron was one of first to welcome us to the neighborhood. This is what you might see on any given morning. Our labradoodle Rocco would stand in front of Joanne and Ron's driveway looking for Ron. If he was there, they'd run at each other, wrestle a few minutes, Rocco would steal his hat and then give him bunches of kisses. Other mornings, the same scenario played out on the front porch. Those were also the coffee cuss and discuss mornings and we really miss them. Thinking about him, we miss the great smile, the many kindnesses of a good neighbor and his respect and love for all creatures. His name is engraved on God's hand and there is a dove hovering near and of course, God has a dog to befriend him.

Well written obituary. I thought I was the only person who had javalina in my shop visiting with me.
