William Anderson Obituary

Bill passed away at his home on January 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Denver, Colorado on September 24, 1936 to the late Duane and Lois Anderson. Bill came to Tucson with his parents when he was a baby. He attended Sam Hughes Elementary, Mansfeld Junior High and graduated from Tucson High in 1954. Bill spent his career in the construction industry where he began as a Carpenter Apprentice for Sundt during the building of Catalina High School.

Bill married his wife, Kay, in April of 1960 and together they raised four children: Cathy Anderson (Jesse), Will Anderson, Gina Anderson (Gloria) and Kirsten Anderson. Bill is survived by his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Jerry. Bill cherished his family and found joy in every moment.

Bill was a proud Tucsonan which was exemplified through his volunteering in the community. He was always willing to lend a hand and his jokes brightened many people's days. His most recent contributions included assisting the Old Fort Lowell Neighborhood Association in managing the restoration of the San Pedro Chapel. He also served Tucson Medical Center on the Architectural Committee Review Board and as a Patient Advocate.

One of Bill's favorite quotes was "If you erase your mistakes, you erase yourself" - which taught us the value of learning and growing through life.

Bill's jokes, handshakes and hugs will be missed by all.

There will be a celebration of Bill's life for the family, neighbors and friends at San Pedro Chapel (5230 E. Fort Lowell) at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 17th.
Published by Arizona Daily Star from Jan. 13 to Jan. 16, 2025.
