Barbara Brill Obituary

Barbara Brill

Claremont, NH - Barbara D. Brill passed away peacefully at Sullivan County Health Care in Unity, New Hampshire and went home to be with her Lord on July 5, 2025, following a period of failing health.

Barbara was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, on March 31, 1939, to Wilbur D. and Ruth B. Drake. She attended Claremont schools and graduated from Stevens High School as part of the Class of 1957. On November 27, 1959, she married Milo H. Brill, who was serving in the United States Army at the time. For more than twenty years, she travelled with her husband to various Army assignments, living on military bases in Germany, Ethiopia, Kentucky (her favorite), California, Massachusetts, Washington, and Michigan. Following Master Sargent Brill's retirement from the Army in 1980, the couple returned to Claremont.

Over the course of her work life Barbara was recognized for her skills as a secretary and typist in the administrative positions she held at each location where her husband was stationed. Her career included roles as a legal secretary and administrative assistant, culminating in her retirement in 2004 as a medical administrative assistant with the Veterans Administration in White River Junction, Vermont.

Barbara's strong faith was integral to her life and provided her with comfort during challenging times, particularly after the passing of her husband, Milo, in 2009. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; brothers Donald Hill and Wilbur (Bill) R. Drake; sisters Irene Demars, Madlyn Hill, Gloria Neun, Juanita Hill, and Edith Tanzi.

She is survived by her late brother Bill's sons, David (Carrie) Drake of Glasford, Illinois, and Jeffrey Drake of Brimfield, Illinois; Sandra (Ralph) Brown of Brownsville, Vermont, and their families. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Gordon (Barbara) Brill of Unity, New Hampshire and their family, as well as number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30AM on July 14, 2025, at Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont, New Hampshire, where Barbara will be laid to rest beside her husband.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff of Sullivan County Health Care for their dedicated care and kindness during Barbara's nearly five years living there following her stroke in 2020.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sullivan County Humane Society, 14 Tremont Street, P. O. Box 111, Claremont, NH 03743 in recognition of Barbara's affection for animals, especially cats, or to a charity of your choice.
