David Cogswell Obituary

David R. Cogswell

Quechee, VT - David R. "Mooner" Cogswell, 59, died Monday, July 28, 2025, at home in Quechee, VT.

He was born January 26, 1966, in Norwalk, CT, a son of Dennis Cogswell and Judith (Butler) Cogswell. David spent his early years in New Canaan, CT where he graduated from high school before receiving his plumbers training at Wright Tech in Stamford, CT. David began his career as a master plumber in Connecticut before moving to the Upper Valley in the early 1990's, where he continued his career in plumbing at Dartmouth-Hitchcock for several years. He later worked at A.L. Bellimer Services in Bridgewater until his health prevented him from working. David lived in Fairlee for a time, before living in the Woodstock Area and most recently in Quechee for the past 20 years.

David loved animals and operated a rescue for many cats and dogs over the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and riding motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles with friends and family at the family's camp in Bridgewater.

He is survived by his father, Dennis Cogswell of Woodstock, VT; brother, Christopher Cogswell and his wife, Rose, of Florida, his brother, Jason Grady and his wife, Mel; nieces, Celeste and Stephanie, nephews, Andrew and Matthew; an aunt, Lori Flynn of Bridgewater, VT; longtime girlfriend, Tina DeLuca of Quechee, VT, as well as several cousins and many close friends, including LouAnn Cogswell.

A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Saturday, August 2nd from 3-5PM with a funeral service to follow at 5PM.

Endless wonderful times at the famous pound ridge gatherings, always a gentle soul, and always ready for a good time with the ones he loved. I don't have very few pics but I do have this one. Mooner relaxing on a bench, overlooking two beef patties thawing out, getting ready for the grill. With his face to the sun, listening to his favorite music. He seemed to just want to be around the ones he loved, in return wanting Nothing more than receiving abundance of love from his friends & family. I will miss you mooner very much, you are now in the heavens with family & Friends you have missed for so long. RIP dear friend. Oxo
