Terry Williamson Obituary

Terry Lee Williamson, 80, of rural Warrensburg, MO, formerly of Shawnee and Merriam, KS, died July 23, 2025 at his home.

He was born July 23, 1945, in Paola, KS, to the late John and Dorothy (Hill) Williamson.

Terry grew up in towns in southern Kansas as his dad's railroad job moved them around. He enlisted in the US Marine Corp at age 17, and served for 4 years. He later joined the Army National Guard, where he served for 11 years.

He married Sharon Saunders-Langley on September 20, 1985. He was a Union Pacific Railroad engineer for 39 years. They lived in the Shawnee/Merriam, KS area until 2004, when they moved to rural Warrensburg.

Country music was a big part of Terry's life. He played in several bands and was a founding member of Flatlanders. He was a talented musician and able to play several instruments, including the guitar, piano, bass, harmonica and trombone. Horses were another favorite hobby of Terry's. They spent many days and nights on trail rides, camping and canoeing. Their homestead of the last 20 years allowed them to have their horses right on their property.

Terry was a proud member of the American Legion Post #327 in Shawnee and a supporter of Wounded Warriors.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons Craig Langley of Kansas City, Kansas; John Williamson of Warrensburg; Brian Langley of Kansas City, Kansas and Wade Williamson of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Patricia Jaros of Humboldt, NE; 7 Grandchildren: Hailey, Brian, Brett; Kenneth, Allison; Oscar, Charlotte; 2 Great Grandchildren: Aubree and Alivia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, from 7-8:30 pm at the Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home in Higginsville.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 4th at 11:00 am at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
