Annette Curry Cooper, daughter, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother joined her Lord and Savior on July 23, 2025, while under Hospice Care in her home with her husband Jim, daughter Sharon, and son Mike by her side. She was predeceased by her father and mother Otwell Travern "(Cooper)" and Mabel Curry, her older sister Jean Evelyn Baker, her older brother Richard Earl Curry and he younger brother Charles Nathan Curry. She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Sharon Lynn Cooper, son James Michael ("Mike") Cooper, granddaughter Ashley Lineberry, her husband Kyle, great granddaughter Ella Blake Lineberry and grandson Zachary Cooper.
She was born in Waxahachie, Texas, on August 31, 1937, where she was raised, attended schools and graduated from Waxahachie High School in June, 1955, then she was off to the University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She married James Victor Cooper Jr. in Waxahachie on November 9, 1958, and they were happily together for over 67 years. After the wedding they were stationed in Hawaii where Jim was on active duty in the U. S. Navy. They returned to the states in 1960 to an assignment at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Sharon was born on August 8, 1960. Mike was born on October 24, 1967 while the family was living in Waxahachie. Other duty stations came along until Jim retired in 1978 and they moved to Waxahachie where they have resided for the past forty-seven years. In the intervening years they made several European River Cruises and enjoyed each of them immensely.
Annette was an active member of the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also served as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ellis County Woman's Building. She was a member of the Heirloom Club and served as one of its president. She was a long time member of Historic Waxahachie, the Ellis County Museum, and was a lifetime member of First Methodist Church Waxahachie. She was also an active member of the Builder's Sunday School Class. Being a Longhorn through and through, she was a Life Member of the Texas Exes.
She leaves behind her family and a host of friends from Waxahachie, The University, and duty stations around the world. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was loved and admired by many friends. She will be missed.
The family received visitors Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10:00am, at First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie, Texas. Funeral services followed at 11:00am.
