May 12, 1960 - March 15, 2025
Michael D. Johnson, 64, of Molino, FL, formerly of Moville, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at his son's home in Florida. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville with the Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating. Burial will be at the Arlington Cemetery of Moville. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Moville is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael D. Johnson was born May 12, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa to Harold Dean and Nancy Jane (Grenier) Johnson. He graduated from Woodbury Central High School. Mike made Dean's List at NCC Community College where he earned his bachelor's degree and graduated with high honors.
He was an Electrical Distribution Manager for La Porte City Utilities and retired in 2019 after 28 years. He was a member of the La Porte City Council and the Elks Club. Mike also volunteered as an EMT and a firefighter. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Free Church.
In his free time Mike enjoyed listening to music, woodworking and playing the drums for an assortment of different bands. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Jeremiah D. Johnson and his wife, Jennifer, and Nicholas S. Johnson; grandchildren, Trevor Payne, Emily Johnson, Caleb Johnson and Israel Johnson; and his brother, Scott R. Johnson.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Nancy Johnson, and sister, Jackie Johnson-Duhachek.

Mike worked for me in Sanborn, after graduating from NCC, and lived next door to us. I was shocked to see his obituary, and want to extend our condolences to Jeremiah, Nicholas, and Scott. Send an email to reconnect. I hadn't seen your dad for a few years, as I had retired about 7 years before he did, and no longer attended meetings we both had in earlier years.
