EDWIN JOHN GURNEY GURNEY, Edwin John, 69, resident of Prattville, AL passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from Prattville Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a SMSgt. He also worked with the United States Postal Service for 26 years, serving his community and building relationships with all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Gurney, and his brother Brian Gurney. He is survived by his son, David Gurney (Brittany); daughter, Sarah Gurney Griffith (Derek); his four grandchildren, Abigail Gurney, Madelyn Gurney, Aiden Griffith, Ayla Rae Griffith; three brothers, Charles Gurney Jr., Mark Gurney, Glen Gurney; two sisters, Elizabeth Gruenke, Bonnie Eigenberger (Tim); and extended family members and friends. As a single father, he dedicated his life to his children, working selflessly to provide a wonderful life for them, never desiring anything for himself. As he became a grandfather, his love and selflessness continued to his grandchildren. He lived as an example to his family, always prioritizing the needs of others over his own, dedicating his life to those he loved. He was a man of few words, but had a heart of gold. He was one of the greatest men that anyone could have ever crossed paths with. Matthew 6:1-4 exemplifies the life he led. We were his home; he was our rock. He is loved and will be forever missed by many. We love you Dad
