Joyce Faye King, daughter of the late Ernest Theodore Fredrick and Sadie Emily (Landreth) Rauch, was born December 9, 1941, at Waynoka and passed away peacefully June 8, 2025, at Alva, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 30 days.
Joyce was raised in Waynoka where she attended school and graduated from Waynoka High School. On June 6, 1959, she was united in marriage to Charles Freeman King, I, at Morning Star Baptist Church. They made their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Charles began his Railroad Career, moving several times with the railroad, settling in Waynoka in the early 70s until moving to Wellington, Kansas in 1986.
Joyce King was a faithful servant and deeply involved in every church she attended. From teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to organizing Skate Nights, she poured her heart into nurturing faith in others. She also found great purpose in her work with the elderly in both Waynoka and Wellingtoncaring for others with compassion and grace.
To many, she was simply Grandma Joyce, but to Paris and Titan, she was affectionately known as "Grandma Queen." She was truly the ultimate prayer warrior, lifting up her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in constant prayer.
Joyce had a deep love for reading and passed that passion on to the generations after her. Whether it was her favorite westerns, BBC dramas, or a good Hallmark movie, she enjoyed the simple joys of a story well told. Her faith, her love, and her prayers were the foundation of her familyand her legacy will live on in each of us.
Besides her parents, Ernest and Sadie, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Lori Brown; her brothers, Carl Rauch, Earl Rauch, and Willie Rauch; her sisters, Carol Carberry, Edna Eggleston, and Marie Rauch; and one grandson, Charles L.W. King.
