David Eckert Obituary

David A. Eckert, 78, of Lower Saucon Township died Saturday, February 15, 2025 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John C. and Agnes M. (Check) Eckert. After high school, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War and also the United States Naval Reserve. After the war, David obtained his CDL license and began a career driving truck for various businesses in the Lehigh Valley. Before retiring, he worked as a maintenance technician at Weld Ship Corporation, Bethlehem. When he was younger, he enjoyed hiking and camping in his spare time. He enjoyed a trip with his son, daughter-in-law and grandson to Yosemite, Tahoe and the Golden Gate Bridge which he treasured the memories they made.
Survivors: Son, Mark A. Eckert and his wife Lisa; grandson, Haydn John Eckert all of Bethlehem. He was predeceased by brothers Richard, Donald and John.
Service: Memorial Service 2:00PM Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, PA. A calling period will be held from 1 to 2:00PM, Friday, February 21, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Please record a memory at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.

A marine from the Vietnam War has passed away today. David, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Farewell fellow war veteran.
