Eleanor Brown Obituary
Eleanor Mae Brown, affectionately known as "Ellie," a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and loving friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born on March 11, 1941, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Ellen (Connolly) Blanchet. Ellie lived a life rooted in strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry P. Brown; her children, Robert Brown and Kathleen Sargent; and her grandson, Robert Brown Jr.
Ellie is survived by her children: Bonnie DeMatteo of Haverhill, MA; Michael Brown and his wife, Gail, of Fremont, NH; and Kenneth Brown of Epping, NH. She also leaves behind her brother, Ronald Blanchet, and his wife, Norma-Jean, of Haverhill, MA.
Ellie was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren: Hollie DeMatteo, Sean DeMatteo, Kelly LeBlanc, Nathaniel Sargent, Jennifer Gusler, Tiffanee Scaglione, Daniel Brown, Chelsea Campbell, Thomas Brown, Emma Brown, Jennifer Brown, Zachary Brown, Joshua Bishop, Jonathan Bishop, and the late Robert Brown Jr. She was also a devoted great-grandmother - a steady, loving presence in the lives of each new generation.
Ellie was a woman of quiet joy and simple pleasures. She found happiness in the small, meaningful things: curling up with a good book, getting lost in a mystery novel, or watching detective shows on TV, always trying to solve the case before the final reveal.
An avid word search enthusiast, she could often be found with a pencil in hand, delighting in the satisfaction of finding that final hidden word. She also enjoyed knitting, and in her younger years, loved snowmobiling with her husband and friends, embracing the thrill of winter trails and the joy of shared adventure.
Above all, Ellie's greatest joy came from being with her family. She devoted herself fully to raising not only her children but also helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was always open, a place filled with warmth, laughter, quiet wisdom, and unconditional love.
Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
