Bernard Woods Obituary

Bernard Woods, age 60, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away in the comfort of his home on July 4, 2025, with Brenda and Todd by his side. Bernard was born on June 21, 1965, in Albion, Michigan, the son of Bob and Loraine Woods, who have preceded him in death. He attended Marlee School and Marshall High School before starting his work career at the Dinner Bell Truck Stop, doing everything from greeting customers to pumping gas and cleaning. After the truck stop, Bernard was proud to work for the Green Bay Pickle Factory for many years. After his parent's death, he was welcomed into the home of his twin sister, Brenda, and her husband, Todd. His loving brother-in-law assisted with his care for the last 16 years. Todd was ever so present in all emergency room visits and every hospital stay. The last 84 days of Bernard's life, Todd only left his side to work. What brotherly love!
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the kids, listening to AC/DC, and collecting knives and watches. He also loved old cars and the Detroit Tigers. Bernard never knew a stranger and had many friends.
Bernard is survived by his twin sister, Brenda (Todd) Carl; brothers, Carl (Missy) Woods and Henry (Christy) Woods; nephews: Don (Julie) Woods, Chris (Christina) Woods, Ray (Ashley) Woods, Brian (Sarah) Pesonen, Jamie Woods, Alex Woods, David Alvardo, Zach Woods, Cameron Woods, Cody Berkepile, and Tim DeVore; nieces Becky (Lee) VanEpps, Rachel (Connor) Pasco, Jordyn Woods, Sierra Woods, Ashley Berkepile, and Katie DeVore; and very special great-nieces and nephews: Bryce, Eli, Corbin, Alivia, Arriana, Travis and Jaren. He was also part of his extended Carl family: preceded in death by Don Carl and Scott Rea and survived by Linda Rea, Dave, Jen, Zac, and Rian Carl; the Lewis Family of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; and his three very best friends: Larry Lewis of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Delmar Mann and Judy Rowe of Albion, Michigan.
A service honoring Bernard's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Vickers Springport Funeral Home located at 121 Pearl Street in Springport, Michigan, with Deacon Henry Woods officiating. The family will begin receiving friends and loved ones at noon prior to the service. Following the service, Bernard will be laid to rest at Albion Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Vickers Springport Funeral Home, PO Box 235, Springport, MI 49284. 517-857-4848.
