Peter Fischer Obituary

PETER JACOB FISCHER February 15, 1941 September 13, 2025 Peter Jacob Fischer, age 84, of Lupton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born on February 15, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan. In his early years, Peter worked alongside his father on the family dairy farm, an experience that shaped his strong work ethic, resilience, and lifelong appreciation for the land. He later built a long career in building maintenance. Peter cherished the simple joys of life, especially the moments he shared with his children and grandchildren. He was a longtime Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, where he shared his love of the outdoors and camping with countless Scouts. A proud Brother Mason, Peter lived his life guided by principles of fellowship, integrity, and service. Peter had a passion for the huntboth at his beloved hunting club and at yard sales and thrift shops, where he could never resist adding another cast iron piece to his vast collection. His sense of adventure, humor, and down-to-earth nature touched all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Gregory (Wendy Webster) Fischer; daughter, Brenda (Thomas Jr.) Pierro; grandchildren, Lexi Fischer, Jeni Fischer, and Anthony Pierro; and his sister, Ruthann (Ernest) Poirier. He is also survived by many more who considered him a father figure, brother, grandpa, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Joseph Fischer, and his granddaughter, Lillian Pierro. Peter's legacy of love, laughter, and service will be remembered by his family, friends, Masonic brothers, Scouts, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's honor to Friends of Scouting, helping to support the youth program he devoted so much of his life to. Your gift will ensure that future generations of Scouts can grow, learn, and become the leaders of tomorrowjust as Peter inspired so many during his lifetime. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Pete was the custodian at Mental Health where I worked. He loved sharing stories as he made his way around the center cleaning offices. The stories usually revolved around his grandkids, farm life, or his hunting cabin.
Two classic stories he shared was of of one growing up on the farm and walking back to bring the cows in for milking. He chuckled that the "health department would probably frown upon it now".
Having gone all summer long barefoot walking through the fields it would get pretty chilly on the feet as fall came on.
But to remedy that he said "Nothing felt better then placing
my feet in a nice warm cowpie,"when he wandered around the farm.
The other story was as a young adult arriving at the bus station in Minneapolis on the Grey Hound to find work.
He flagged down a taxi and asked to be taken to the YMCA to have a place to stay while he got familiar with the city.
He said the taxi took over 20 minutes before arriving at the WMCA.
Getting up the next morning he decided to take a walk around the block to see what he might find. When he got around the corner and other side he had arrived at the Grey Hound bus station.
He said he then told himself. "Okay, I need to get a lot smarter real fast if I'm going to be living in the city".
Happy hunting ground Pete.
My condolences to the family he was quite proud of you.

Wow... where do I begin... he was a great person.. from the time I was a young tween going over to get a hayride n hot dog roast for a quarter.. to helping to throw hay in the barn then he´d let me ride the horse now n then... those were special times for this city suburb girl back then... That is partly why I fell in love with this wonderful community n through the years we would run into one another n chat a while! I will always remember you Pete... Fly High.. God definitely gained an Angel!!

Our families were friends when we were children & remember visiting on their farm. Pete was always kind to everyone. He also had work ethics back then & would leave play to do his chores. Condolences to his entire family.
