Robert C. Zimmerman, known by all who love him as “Packer Bob”, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2025. Bob was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Known for his kind soul and profound generosity, he was always willing to help anyone in need, at any time. He was YouTube, before YouTube. A passionate Green Bay Packers fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on the boys in green and gold, while giving Bears fans a hard time along the way. Music, especially classic rock, was the soundtrack to who he was. A lover of the outdoors, fishing at the lake or sitting by a campfire were among his favorite places to be. Always up for a Cribbage game, and despite wanting to win, he played with a spirit of fairness and good sportsmanship (but make no mistake, he wanted to win). The enjoyment of woodworking came later, and what started as a small hobby grew into crafting thoughtful gifts for everyone. He was born in Blue Island, Illinois and raised in Harvey, Illinois, where he graduated from Thornton Township High School. In 1976, he married his high school sweetheart, Pam, and together they raised their three children: Rob (Cara), Jennifer (Brian), and Michele (Scott). Proud Papa and Grandpa to his seven grandchildren: Kyle, Madeline, Allison, Kiera, AJ, Connor, and Aaron. He is survived by his sisters Ann (Andy) and Fran (Lou) and preceded in death by his parents George and Lorraine Zimmerman. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews; dear friend to countless others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Resting at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL. Friday, November 7, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service beginning at 7:00 p.m. For further information, please contact tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
