Betty Haddock Obituary

Betty Cain Howerton Haddock

Sep 16, 1930 - Mar 27, 2026

Betty Cain Howerton Haddock, 95, of Winston-Salem, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was born in Forsyth County on September 16, 1930, to the late James Alexander Howerton and Annie Elizabeth Cain Howerton.

Betty was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and a member of the Class of 1950 at Brevard College, where she met her husband, Michael. She was an active member of the Women's Junior League of Winston-Salem and was of the Methodist faith. Betty enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and treasured the time she spent with her family. She retired from Bell, Davis, and Pitt Law Firm after many years of dedicated service.

A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty was affectionately known as "Mawsie" by her grandchildren, a name that reflected the deep love and bond she shared with them. She loved people and had a true servant's heart, always thinking of others. She also never ceased to be young at heart. Betty was a caring and generous person devoted to her family, and she always wanted the very best for them-especially her children.

Betty will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Haddock; her son, Stuart Haddock; and her sister, Janice Morton. She is survived by her three children: Stephen Haddock (Jean), Julia Beth Nofsinger (Mike), and Sharon Binkley (Dan); six grandchildren: Michelle, Scott, Anna, Molly, Nolan, and Emily; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friend, Debbie Morton, as well as many cherished neighbors and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Salem Main Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

Online condolences may be made at www.salemfh.com.

I was walking down the hall at Universal Health a few years ago visiting when I saw Haddock on a door, knowing only one Haddock in my life,I popped my head in the door and ask the lady if she knew a Steve / Mike Haddock and she said he was her son which led to a lengthy conversation about the old Knollwood Manner days as I had grew up across the tracks in Hanestown and went to Moore and Dalton with Steve and years later worked with him at Reynolds. It was an enjoyable conversation and she was a nice person to talk with, glad I got to meet her, condolences Steve to you and your family.
