Gary Ward Obituary

Gary J. Ward, 77, of North Levitt Street, Rome, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a resident for the past two years and five months. Born in Oneida on November 11, 1947, he was the son of John and Gertrude Lang Ward. Gary was a resident of Rome since 1990. He was a graduate of Oneida High School and served with the United States Marine Corps in Viet Nam and Okinawa. Prior to his retirement, Gary was employed with Oneida Limited, Silversmiths as a silver buffer and later with D J Bill & T as a sound technician. Gary enjoyed music and had been involved with music since the 1980s and had a great love for his family. He was of the Methodist faith being a member of Christ Church, United Methodist and when he was younger, attended with this mother, the First United Methodist Church. Surviving are his two daughters, Emily Suits of Utica and Breanna Ward of Rome; two sons, Chad (Deanna) Ward of Port Charlotte, Florida and Vincent Ward of Oklahoma; five grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Tina) Ward of Canastota and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Karen Ward Busa on February 25, 2008 and Susan D. Meyers on October 24, 2021 and a brother, Kevin J. Ward in August 7, 2003. Funeral services will be held 12PM, Friday, November 29, 2024, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 South Peterboro Street, Canastota. Interment, with full military honors, will be made in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10AM– 12PM, prior to the funeral service.
