Marco Salerno Obituary
Utica-Marco Antonio Salerno, 20, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 6, 2025, as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Marco, born October 25, 2004, is the son of Anthony and Susan (Zogby) Salerno. He grew up in South Utica and was a graduate of the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES P-Tech Program. Always a hard worker, Marco spent the last year working at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino and was currently employed at Parkway Drugs in Utica. Marco enjoyed hiking and camping with his family and absolutely loved music, both classic and modern. He was excited about an upcoming Coldplay concert with his dear friends Sarah and Natalie. Marco was a huge fan of the Broadway play, Phantom of the Opera, having seen it four times. Marco appreciated food and never missed the chance to try something new, especially Kevin's famous clam chowder. He loved vacationing and working in Ocean City, Maryland, North Myrtle Beach, and New York City. He was passionate about cars, and nothing made him happier than going on long drives and to car meets. Everyone who knew Marco knew he loved animals, especially his beloved dogs Ruger and Luna and his cat, Brie.
Marco had the heart of a hero and an unwavering protective nature. He was always the first to lend a hand or support anyone in need. Marco's cherished smile was impossible to miss, and his happiness spread to everyone he met. He will forever be in our hearts.
Marco is survived by his loving father and step-mother, Anthony Salerno and Kathryn Ferguson of Utica; his brother, Nikolas Salerno, two step brothers, Aidan Ferguson and Conor Ferguson and step-sister, Emma Ferguson all of Utica; paternal grandmother, Barbara Ziezio of Marcy; maternal grandfather, Joseph Zogby of Utica; aunts and uncles, Melissa and Mike Olsen, Eddie and Roseanne Smith, and Joseph Zogby; four great aunts and three great uncles, Sandra Price and Vicky and Bob Zysk, Eli and Grace Zogby, and Carl and Joyce Corriggio; two dear friends, Sara Colon and Natalie Colon who were like family to Marco. Special friends, Nicholas, Gabe, Requin, John, Sara, Brayden, Logan, and his girlfriend, Anna, and many cousins and additional friends too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Susan Ann (Zogby) Salerno; maternal grandmother, Carmella Zogby; paternal grandfather, Vincent Salerno; uncles, Vinny Salerno and Mark Salerno; cousins, Renee Salerno and Rachelle Salerno; great aunt, Gloria Williams, and two great uncles, Joseph Price and Joseph Williams.
Marco was a parishioner of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Marco's funeral Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St., Utica. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Utica. Visitation for family and friends is Friday, June 13th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd.., N. Utica.
