Regina Steiner Obituary
Regina (Jeanie) Steiner
Regina (Jeanie) Steiner passed away on July 17, 2025 after a brief stay at Lewis County General Hospital.
Born on June 11, 1943 to Reginald and Nina Zehr. The eldest of four. She took on the role of caregiver early in life, helping to raise her younger siblings - a responsibility that took on a life long calling in caregiving. She healed with compassion, cared with grace, found her joy in helping others. Rocking babies was a particular favorite task.
Regina married the love of her life - Kurtis D Steiner in April 1962 and soon after earned her associates degree in licensed practical nursing. Together they built a loving home and raised 4 children. Once her children were grown, Jeanie pursued her dream of becoming a registered nurse. With determination and passion, she earned her RN degree and continued her nursing career until age 80. Leaving a legacy of compassion and dedication to others.
In her lifetime, Jeanie was a voracious reader- she consumed 1000's of books, loved to dance, had a deep love for her grand children and a zest for life that was contagious.
Jeanie loved to travel. Her love for life sparkled like the lights of Las Vegas and danced the rhythm of Caribbean waves. She was happiest when sailing on the ocean with family and friends. With Abba playing in the backdrop and laughter echoing, she will be remembered by all who knew her as the life of every party...A free spirit who never met a contest she wouldn't enter.
Regina leaves behind a husband of 63 years, Kurtis. 4 children - Kenton, Croghan; Kimberly Widrick, Lowville; Renee(Timothy) Widrick, Lowville; Lansing, Croghan. 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, siblings Gary (Robin) Zehr, Rome NY. Gloria Manzer, Lowville, NY and Wayne (Ann) Zehr N. Myrtle Beach, SC. 4 step grand children, and 8 step great grand children as well as nieces, nephews and cousins .
