Thomas Dailey, 87, formerly of Canastota, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born on September 9, 1937, in Syracuse, the son of the late John and Florence (Graham) Dailey.
Tom spent his early years in Syracuse, attending the Herman School in E. Syracuse. He later lived in Canastota, Wampsville and Vernon Center.
He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
Tom worked for Chrysler Corporation in E. Syracuse, retiring after more than thirty years. He also worked at the American Legion Charles Miller Post # 140 in Canastota for twenty years, retiring in 2018.
He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Charles Miller Post # 140 in Canastota.
Tom enjoyed going to Clear Path in Chittenango, mowing the lawn, driving, maintaining the facilities at the American Legion, showing up to family events, and spending time with his family. Tom had a great work ethic, which he passed down to his grandchildren.
He first married Patricia Welch, and later married Eileen Froelick.
Surviving are: one daughter, Blyth Jones of Oneida; two grandchildren, Erin and T.J. Coon of Vernon Center, and Kayla Jones and Jair Arancel of E. Syracuse; four great grandchildren, Angelina Coon, Dennis Coon, Isabella Arancel, and Aurora Arancel; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tom was predeceased by his longtime companion, Carol Scheid; four brothers, Jerry Dailey, Charlie Dailey, John Dailey, and Donald Daily; one sister, Lucy "Tootsie" Kemp; three half-sisters, Marie Shelby, Shirley Delaney, and Gladys Bush; one step-brother, Irving Walters; and one step-sister, Charolette Everlith.
Calling hours will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, following the calling hours. The Rev. William M. Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post # 140, 325 S. Peterboro Street, Canastota.
