Following several months of declining health, Gordon's persevering spirit departed, leaving behind cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on September 29, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Gordon was the son of Howard and Flowerina (Poppaw) Adams, who preceded him in death. He attended grade school first in Indianapolis, then in Hillsboro and Waynetown, Indiana, before graduating from Waynetown High School in 1954. His military service spanned over a decade, from 1954 to 1965, where he embodied dedication, discipline, and commitment. After his military career, Gordon settled in Florida, residing in the Fort Myers and Pensacola areas for much of his life. He worked for Jerry Lee Chemical in Pensacola, where his hard work and leadership earned him the role of supervisor before his retirement. Gordon's zest for life was reflected in his love for sunny weather, nice cars, music, and all things sports-especially NASCAR and Alabama football. He shared a special bond with his wife, Diane Elder Adams, whom he married on November 6, 1979. Together, they enjoyed the companionship of many family dogs, most recently Bailey, who will carry on Gordon's legacy.
