Lawrence Green Obituary

Mr. Lawrence Galen "Larry" Green, 89, of Robinson, Illinois, passed away Wednesday July 2, 2025, 7:16 pm in the peace and comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born on August 2, 1935, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of Carlyn Williamson Green and Dolores Nadine (Doty) Green. On December 30, 1955, he married the love of his life, Rowena J. "Posey" Howe, who survives. Following graduation from High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1955 in Vincennes, Indiana, and served until his honorable discharge in June of 1959 from Rapid City, South Dakota, having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He held an Associate Degree in Electrical and Diesel Engineering and worked as a communications and electronics technician for Marathon Oil Company in Robinson, Illinois, for 27 years. Larry and Posey moved to Robinson in 1969, having previously lived in O'Fallon, Missouri, and Rapid City, South Dakota. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Rowena "Posey" Green of Robinson, Illinois; his children, Jeffery Alan (Lisa M.) Green of Evanston, Wyoming, David Wayne Green of West Branch, Michigan, and Ms. Lori A. (Bill) McMillan of Robinson, Illinois; grandchildren, Ondrea ( Brian) Harper of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Landon (Conna) McGuire of Evanston, Wyoming, Bailey (Dennis) Knight of Robinson, Illinois, Kirby (Ben) Ackman of Robinson, Illinois, and Jordan (Aaron) Medsker of Robinson, Illinois; William W. McMillan of Robinson, Illinois, and Brennan McMillan of New York, New York. and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nora Leone (Charles) Zehner of Lawrenceville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with Larry's wishes, private family services will be held, with cremation to follow. A public graveside memorial service with full military rites will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Care/Hospice, 1318 N. Michigan Avenue, Marshall, Illinois, 62441.
