Katherine Hill Obituary

PONTOTOC - Katherine Henderson Hill peacefully met with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on July 28, 2025, at Pontotoc Nursing Home surrounded by love. Katherine was born March 24, 1931, in Pontotoc County. She attended Pontotoc High School where she was elected treasurer of her senior class of 1949. For many years, Katherine was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served faithfully by playing the piano. On October 7, 1949, she married her life-long love, Clifton Royce Hill. Together they opened Hill Auto Parts (1964) and were active members of First Baptist Church of Pontotoc, where Katherine became legendary for her devoted leadership of the Faithful Followers Sunday school class for over 40 years. In many ways throughout her years, she displayed her heart for people and her community through volunteer work such as efforts with The Red Cross and helping soldiers during family emergencies. Affectionately known by her granddaughter-given name "Mur", she was also well acclaimed for her buttermilk biscuits and fried chicken, unbeatable "Rook" game, musical giftings, and unmatched ability to tell a story. Those who knew her, knew her unwavering love for studying God's word and for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents John Bennett Henderson and Martha Camille Sudduth Henderson, her husband, Clifton Royce Hill, son-in-law David Rowan, and great-grandson Evan Cornett. She is survived by her two children Jan Hill Rowan and Clifton Bradford "Brad" Hill (Karen); five grandchildren Leigh Ann Rowan Corder (Denny), Camille Rowan Rodgers (James), Lauren Rowan Cornett (Chris), Hannah Hill Wilkins (Tyler), and Sarah Hill Bonner (Braxton); five great-grandchildren Kelsey and Ethan Corder, Adam and Ellinor Rodgers, and Levi Wilkins; and two great, great-grandchildren Jace and Aaron Stewart. Additionally, although she was an only child, she is both preceded in death and survived by cousins who she lovingly claimed to be siblings. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church-Pontotoc on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11AM with visitation on Friday evening from 4-8PM and 10AM until service time on Saturday. Bro. Paul "Tip" Sims and Bro. Ken Hester will officiate. Burial will follow in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Denny Corder, James Rodgers, Chris Cornett, Ethan Corder, Adam Rodgers, Tyler Wilkins, and Braxton Bonner.
