HANNAH LILLY BOWMAN (WEST) 89, of Saint Albans, passed away on July 19, 2024, at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, West Virginia.
She was born in 1934 in Charleston, West Virginia, as the fourth of six children to Howard Stuart and Cecil Sue Creasey West. Hannah graduated from East Bank High School and was a member of their Alumni Association for over 65 years. She retired from Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation, was a previous employee of McJunkin Corporation, and was noted for her secretarial skills and executive abilities.
Hannah was preceded in death by her husbands, Calvin Lilly and Thomas Bowman; her sister Patricia Noel, brothers Charles, David, and Jerry West; and her daughter Linda Lee Lilly. She is survived by her sister Barbara West, children Melanie Minichelli (Thomas), Diana Lilly Kitts (Michael), and David Lee Lilly (Michelle Kerr); grandchildren Benjamin (Julie), Kyle, Matt, Adam (Jes), and Cameron (Olivia) Minichelli, Katie Kitts Hafermann and Hunter Kitts, Christopher and Nathan Lilly; great-grandchildren Lacie, Malina, Dominick, Emma, Eames and Maxwell Minichelli, Keira and Rowan Hafermann.
She was a member of Riverlawn Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and made lifelong friends. Hannah had a great mind for words, enjoyed crossword puzzles, Words with Friends, cryptoquips, and played in multiple St. Albans bridge clubs. She had a curious mind, was an avid reader, and encouraged her children and grandchildren to be the same.
Hannah loved her family dearly and she enjoyed family beach trips to Emerald Isle, NC, with all her kids and grandchildren. She also enjoyed many winters in St. Simons Island, GA, and the friends she made there from across the country.
She was a wonderful cook and hosted many holiday gatherings and meals with her extended family members. Hannah loved WVU sports and purportedly taught her younger brother Jerry how to shoot basketball.
Visitation will be at Riverlawn Presbyterian Church, 2008 Pennsylvania Ave., St. Albans, on Saturday, July 27th from 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral services held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Kilbert officiating and internment following at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
