I still can’t believe I’m writing this. I can’t believe you’re really gone. Even though I knew this day would come, it doesn’t make it any easier. You’ve struggled for so long, and while I’m thankful your pain is finally over, I still need you. I don’t know if that’s selfish, but it’s how I feel. I still needed you, Mom.
I remember being just 11 years old, scared out of my mind at the thought of losing you. Even then, I knew how much you meant to me — how much I relied on you, how much I loved you. That fear never really left, and now that you’re gone, I feel it all over again.
You were the most selfless person I’ve ever known. You always put others before yourself, especially me. You took care of me no matter what you were going through. You believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. You gave me so much love, so much strength — and because of that, I am who I am today. Thank you for that, Mom. I’ll carry those memories with me for the rest of my life.
If I could, I’d do it all over again. I would take care of you every single day. I would walk through every hard moment with you again, just to have more time. I hope you know that. I hope you felt that love, even when things were tough.
I know you're finally at peace now, and I take comfort in knowing you’re with Mama — right where your heart wanted to be. Please watch over us. Keep us close. I’ll miss you every single day, but I know you're still with me, in everything I do.
Rest now, Mom. Rest in God’s hands.
I love you more than words can say.
Love Always,
Ashley and Shae
