Garland Bennett Obituary

Garland Lee Bennett, 84, of Alderson, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 7, 2025. He was born on February 16, 1941, at Claypool to the late Athel and Goldie Bennett. Garland was a self-employed contractor. He was pleased to be able to work with his family in the building and construction business. When he wasn't working, he was spending as much time as he could in nature. Garland loved to hunt and fish and be secluded at his property in Summers County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Carol. Those left to cherish his memories and love are his daughter Tena Chenoweth of Fishers, Indiana; sons Ty Bennett of Rainelle, and Todd Bennett of Alderson; brothers Jeff Bennett of Meadow Bridge and Calvin Bennett of Rainelle; sister Juanita Martin of Hines; and several grandchildren. In keeping with his wishes there will not be a public service. Alderson Funeral Services and Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to help Garland, and his family carry out his wishes.
