Ramer Fassnacht, age 100, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 16th at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate. Interment will be at the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. OBITUARY: RAMER FASSNACHT
Ramer Ralph Fassnacht, the son of Harley R. and Bertha (Roemer) Fassnacht was born at Fairmont, Neb. on March 4, 1924 and passed away at Aurora, Neb. on January 12, 2025 at the age of 100 years, 10 months and eight days.
Ramer attended York Co. Dist. 4 grades one thru eight and Dodge Co. Dist. 12 for grades nine and 10. He graduated from McCool Junction High School in 1941. He attended business school in Omaha and worked at Armour & Co. while in school. Ramer farmed with his father until he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving from December of 1948 to December 1949. Ramer was later recalled in August 1950 where he served in Korea until August 1951 when he was honorably discharged.
Ramer married Iola M. Peterson on June 11, 1950 at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. They lived southwest of McCool Junction and then moved on a farm northeast of Hampton on February 29, 1952. They farmed until 1966, raising Pure Bred Registered Angus Cattle. Ramer went to work for Sperry New Holland in Grand Island. He worked there for 18 years as a Quality Controller. Iola passed away on January 24, 2016. After Iola passed, he lived at East Park Villa for seven and a half years where he enjoyed all the activities and met many new friends.
Ramer was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Hampton, where he had served on the council. He was a member of the American Angus Association since 1952 and Legion Post 141. Ramer enjoyed collecting antiques, playing cards and dominos, raising turnips and making hot pad holders.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Louise (Warren) Hasenkamp, Byrdene (Archie) Thompson, Harley P. (Janice and Jo) Fassnacht, Dwight (Margel) Fassnacht and Naomi Fassnacht; infant brother, Wallace; son-in-law, Barry Elder; and niece, Janet Adams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Glenell (Ralph) Ratzlaff of Henderson, Joleen (David) Gustafson of Wakefield and Teresa Elder-Smith (Kirt Smith) of Hampton; two granddaughters, Katherine Elder of West Des Moines, Iowa and Elizabeth Smith of Lincoln; and other family members and friends.
