CORDOVA, N.C. — Mr. David Bryant Hudson, age 84, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Mount Calvary / Rock of Ages Church (464 County Home Road, Rockingham, NC) The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hudson was born May 17, 1940 in Loris, S.C., a son of the late Garland and Brooke Futrill Hudson. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the American Legion Post 74. David was a former employee of Carolina Canners. He was a faithful member of Mount Calvary / Rock of Ages Church of Rockingham, N.C. Mr. Hudson was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A man who never met a stranger, David enjoyed attending auctions looking for a deal, but mostly talking to people.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hudson was also preceded in death by his wives, Pearl Hudson, Doris Williams Hudson; sons, Melvin Eugene Polson, Jr., Ronald Lee Polson, and Mark Holder; grandson, Nathan Polson; sisters, Carolyn Turner, and Shirley Lackey; and brother, Doug Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Julia C. Hudson of the home; children, Susan (Terry) Lewis, Jimmy (Kim) Hudson, Tony (Christie) Hudson, Lexie (Jerry) Lewis, Roger D. Holder (Belinda Oblinger), Charles (Jennifer) Holder; grandchildren, Jennifer Richardson (Adam), Amanda Poston (Brandon), Courtni Cook, Gregory Hudson (Jennifer), Geoffrey Hudson, Andrew Hudson, Justin Hudson, Gracelynn Hudson, Tommy Hudson, Shannon Sellers (Al), Gene Polson, Derrell Jean Lewis, Tad (Jennifer) Polson, Tabitha Hill, Heather (Sean) Malone, and Roger Holder, Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren including, Asheton Figueroa, Dakota Polson, Melany Gaymon, Christopher Brady, Harrison Dean Holder; in addition to great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; also his most cherished extended family, his brothers in arms of the US Marine Corp.
