Jerry DeLoyn Singleton, 82, of Stephenville, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born in Gorman, Texas, on December 4, 1942, to DeLoyn and Mildred (Higginbottom) Singleton. Jerry graduated from De Leon High School in 1961. He married the love of his life, Linda Jo (Hallmark) Singleton, in De Leon on January 20, 1962. From there, the newlyweds headed to Lubbock, Texas, where Jerry attended Texas Technological College. While in college, Jerry worked on the college farm and the couple started their family by welcoming two boys. Jerry graduated from Tech in 1966 with an Animal Husbandry degree. Upon graduation, he began a 34 year career with Texas Power & Light in January in 1966. His first role with the company was as an agribusiness consultant where he worked with local farmers, ranchers, and ag related agencies. During his career, Jerry moved on to serve in a wide variety of roles for the company throughout Texas and eventually retired in 2000. After retirement, he continued to work for the company as a consultant on various special projects for approximately seven years.
Jerry was a diehard Texas Tech Red Raider fan! He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed hunting, camping, and tending to his cattle. His family and friends loved hearing his entertaining stories on a wide variety of subjects. He had a true passion for supporting the youth in all things agriculture and was faithful to attend major stock shows, state fairs, and local agriculture events. He was also active in many civic and charitable organizations, serving on numerous committees and boards throughout the years. Above all else, Jerry loved his Lord and Savior. He loved his family dearly and was incredibly proud of all his grandchildren.
Jerry joins his parents, Mildred and DeLoyn Singleton. Jerry's legacy includes his wife of 63 years, Linda; his children, Ronnie (Lisa) Singleton and Randy (Kim) Singleton; grandchildren, Jake (Ashleigh) Singleton, Ryon Singleton, Kelsay (Ryan) Byrd, and Will Singleton; great-grandchild, Vance Byrd; uncle, Harold Gene Higginbottom; a large extended family; and countless friends and acquaintances.
