Hugh Durham Obituary
January 10, 1942 - April 4, 2025
Captain Hugh Thomas Durham, Jr. passed away on April 4, 2025, in Yuma, Arizona. Born on January 10, 1942, in Alabama to Hugh T. and Linna C. Durham, he lived a life marked by service, faith, and dedication.
Captain Durham served honorably in the United States Air Force for 21 years. A skilled aviator, he flew RC-135 aircraft and accumulated over 11,000 hours of combat and combat support flight time. Throughout his distinguished military career, he held leadership roles including Squadron Director of Operations and Squadron Commander. Much of his service was based in Alaska and Virginia.
He earned his degree in Russian and East European Studies from Syracuse University, a testament to his commitment to learning and global understanding.
Captain Durham is remembered with love by his wife, Susan; his son, John; his brother, Franklin Durham (Motty); his sister, Ellen Humphrey (Bob), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, 2215 S. 8th Ave., Yuma, AZ. (The congregation shares the worship building with Faith Lutheran.)

Captain Durham's life was one of service and devotion. May he rest in peace and may his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
