Alicia Griggs Memoriam

Alicia (Les) Griggs passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in her Manitou Springs home. She was 57. Les was born in Aspermont, Texas. She is survived by her parents, Harold Hood of Phoenix, Az and Ruby Bennet of Colorado Springs, as well as her daughter, Heather Shalome Kier, and sister, Robin Burke of Manitou Springs. Alicia had an extensive education in Fine Arts was widely known for her pottery and abstract paintings, some of the finest in the area. Les has been involved with the Commonwheel Artist's Cooperative, Business of Arts Center and various fine art galleries as well as her own business, Elements Art Gallery in Old Colorado City. Les loved music, gardening, the outdoors and riding her Harley. Alicia took the blank white cotton sheet of life and turned it into a fabulous tapestry, richly woven with her own style of silk and threads of spirituality that connected her to the hearts of all who knew her. She had a way of breathing in life and exhaling joy to her loved ones. A private Celebration of Life is planned for family and those closest to Les, following her cremation. Date and time to be announced. Les, you are so loved and will be sorely missed into eternity.
