Andrew Lowell Munson, 42, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 in Denton, Texas. Andy was born October 21, 1974 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Jan and Claudine (Lyon) Munson. Affectionately named "Magoo" by his Grandpa Lyon.
He grew up in the foothills of the Colorado Mountains, where he, his brothers and neighbors would spend all day in the "boonies", exploring and sledding. His first motorcycle, a yellow Suzuki at the age of 4 years fitted with training wheels, began his love of the speed and competitiveness in the world on two wheels. He raced motocross throughout Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. He was awarded titles, trophies and a sponsorship in Salt Lake City, Utah. He traveled to Costa Rica to compete in the stunt jumps. He traveled and rode throughout the United States during the filming of the "Children of a Metal God". He loved skiing and when he discovered snowboarding it was another sport he took to the extreme, working at the ski resort so he could snowboard as much as possible. He graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in the Class of 1993.
He met and married Marissa Friedman in 2000 and begin their life in California. His great gifts were his children, Mikayla and Carter. He began as a salesman in window covering (plantation shutters), this lead to his and Marissa's small shutter companies in Utah and California.
He moved to Texas in 2014, where he worked in the oil and gas industry and at Harley Davidson.
Andy is survived by his children Mikayla and Carter Munson and their mother Marissa Munson of El Segundo, CA, Chloe and Caleb Turnbull and their mother Sheri Turnbull of Denton, TX, his parents Claudine (Cookie) and Jonathan Garza of Sanger, TX, stepmother Joyce Munson of Salt Lake City UT, stepfather Richard Wroblewski of Colorado Springs, CO, siblings Erika Warner (Clint) and their children Irelyn and Blayne of Victoria TX, Jennifer Pruitt (Cameron) of Salt Lake City UT, Caryn Reinholm (Brent) of Colorado Springs CO, Jenna Garza (Brandon Kraatz) of Victoria TX, Michael Wroblewski (Nicole) of Houston TX, Kenneth Wroblewski (Staci) of Colorado Springs CO, Shane Garza (Crystal) of Fort Collins CO, Christopher Garza (Alma) of Decatur TX, grandmother Pearl Lyon of Rapid City SD, uncles Warren Lyon (Tami) of Gypsum CO, Robert Lyon (Tami) of Colorado Springs CO, Jack Munson (Judy) of Black Forest CO, aunt Jill Freeman (Jim) of Black Forest CO, and numerous relatives and a host of friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Jan Munson, stepfather Sam Hunt, grandparents Ralph Lyon, Paul Munson, Dorothie Ingram, uncles Gaylen Lyon, Joe Munson, cousins Kyle Lyon, Daniel Caffee, Jim Munson, and close friend/mentor Greg Boardman.
Memorial services will be at 11am on Friday, October 20th, Our Lady of the Pines, Black Forest, Colorado. Inurnment to follow in the Eastonville Cemetery, Eastonville CO.
