Ann Dyer Dix

Ann Dix Obituary

Ann Dyer Dix died Nov 27, 2014 at the age of 73 in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her loved ones. She had been battling cancer but ultimately succumbed to other ailments.

Ann was born in Pueblo, CO in 1940 to Warren Dyer and Ysabel Ross Dyer. She earned education degrees from National College in Chicago and Colorado State University. In Colorado Springs she taught in District 11 elementary schools as well as the preschools of Ruth Washburn, Saint Stevens, and Rockledge Ranch.

Ann had an amazing ability to connect with children, particularly through nature. Due to her love of the outdoors, gardening, and dynamic Colorado weather descending Pikes Peak, she grew deep roots in the Mesa neighborhood on the Westside.

Although private in lifestyle, Ann had a profound ability to create a sense of family and embrace people in her life. She was a wonderful cook with a passion for wholesome vegetarian food, wine, and long meals which often ended with her signature strawberry rhubarb pie.

Her primary love was being a mother and raising her two sons, Philip and Mark, years she described as her most treasured. Her beloved dogs Paddington, Maggie, and Carly were also at the core of her life.

Ann was preceded in death by her eldest son Philip and husband Horace Philip Dix III.

Ann is survived by her brother Bill Dyer in Delaware, son Mark in Arizona, and two grandchildren Naomi and Louie Dix.

Condolences may be sent to Mark Dix, PO Box 2271, Phoenix, AZ 85002.
