Today I was sitting in my backyard looking at the majestic mountains of colorado springs. As if by inspiration I remembered Asia after all these years. My first memory of her is when we were 13. She was this energetic girl at the school gym assembly and she was cheering on what ever was going on when almost no one else was. I couldn't take my eyes out of her. Last time I talked to her was shortly before she passed. She will always be in my memories.

I can’t believe it’s been 13 years. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of your infectious smile, and the great friend you were to so many. I speak with your Dad often, they are doing an amazing job raising William. He has grown into such a smart, handsome boy! Looking at him, I see all of you! Love you our Angel! Keep shedding down light on us all. We miss you!

DEAR ASIA --

I continue to feel Your Presence from time to time, assisting Me with the Healings on My Patients. I told You in the beginning that You are a HEALER -- and You have been doing such for these 9 years since You transitioned in August 2007. Boyd is doing so well, also. He still remembers You with Great Love. And so does Nicholas. Life gives Us All great Mysteries and Turning Points. And any encounter with You has always meant a BIG impact upon someone's Life. Your Greatness, Brilliance, and Love continue to Radiate to so many, even now. THANK YOU. Love You.

Asia,
Here it is years later, many moons since our memorable days at Palmer High. Yet, I find myself still remembering training with you on the track, preparing to conquer a state meet as a freshman scared to fail! I remember you always being the positivity I needed to keep my head level and focused on the win! I remember doing our run-offs and trying so hard to place just so I could run varsity as a freshman and I remember you coming up to me as a little freshman saying, "Girl, you have a gift! You are fast, faster than any of us seniors and you WILL run varsity as a freshman! Now stop worrying about it and let's focus on making it to State this year, this is my last year I have to go out on top!!" I dedicated my entire freshman year to ensuring we made it to state as a team just to honor your legacy as a Palmer athlete! There are so many days I wish I could just pick up the phone and call you for some advice or a kick in the rear to remind me to stay focused on the bigger picture and give my son the best life I possibly can! You will never be forgotten baby girl, your beauty and heart still radiate through all of those you have touched in your lifetime just like me! As I get back on this track this summer I will run to honor all those wonderful laughs, crazy practices and most of all in the memory of the best times of my life!!! I love you Asia!! Rest easy baby girl!!

OMG! What a shock this was even so many years after this beautiful young lady's passing! I was travelling down memory lane, looking at my referee record and came across Asia's name. I immediately remembered this beautiful young girl - she was beautiful to look at but also very much a very nice person with some serious spark of personality to her as well. I am very sad to learn this news even now. I only hope that her young son is growing up and doing well and that the memory of his beautiful mother is kept alive for him. My life as a person and as a professional boxing official was richer for having Asia in my presence however briefly that may have been. God rest your soul, beautiful girl...

Asia,
I thought of you today. It's a new year, it's been 3 years now that you left us. I remember the last time I saw you. It was at the ritz and I briefly said hi because it was so packed. I told you I'd just talk to you later because it was so packed in there. No wait, I saw you the following wknd at The Vue and you made me a drink. It's crazy how this life/death stuff works. It's so unpredictable. I just came by to show the Mays family some love and let you now Asia will never be forgotten. Asia is gone, but the memories of her can never be taken away.
Peace and Blessings

Asia -- I put into writing now what I have told You so many times in these past 34 months, since You transitioned into the Sprit Realm: Thank You for choosing to remain with Us as a Healing Angel! You have been present with Me so often in My work with Patients and Clients, with Family and Friends. We have seen You on special occasions, and You still communicate with Us. You have helped so many! You are indeed Asia-Angel! And We shall always Love and Honor You.

I met asia the summer before our senior year of highschool. We were both at the West Point Invitational Academic workshop. We immediately hit it off, and hung out the whole time. We both scheduled our visits to the academy and even though she went to Air force instead, we stayed in touch. We last talked january of 2007 while i was in Iraq. She was one of the most amazing women i have ever met, and my life has been better for knowing her

I knew Asia for a very long time and have been unwilling to express in words how much she meant to me since her passing. She was extraordinarily talented, incredibly bright and one of the most beautiful individuals i've ever known.

She stole my bouncing Tiger in high school and nurtured me when I tore my acl in college. We played piano, sang songs together and ran track together.

I will always love you and miss you Asia, and your friendship will always be very very dear to me.

I just found out about Asia Mays. I had never hear of her until I ran accross her tribute obituary today, Sunday, 12-21-08. I admire her, her youthful energy & determindation, and I respect her for all her accomplishments. I am fairly new to this sport, this women's sport that I did not give much thought to until July of this year when I stumbled accross the WBAN on the internet. I have a strong attraction to underdogs, and of all women's athletic competitions, she entered an extremely challanging challange, personnally, emotionally, physically, culturally, and sociallly. You have my belated sympathy and empathy. God bless you all, the family, friends, trainers, and sparring partners to her. Amen !

Asia and I were friends in high school. Like me, she had a passion for theatre and I remember being flattered when she asked me to help her perfect her character for the play we were both in and when she would look to me for advice on theatrical lingos. Although we had a falling out later on, I am shocked by her death. Being in the military trains you to accept death and drive on but I have traveled all over the world and seen many things in those travels but when I finally slowed down to hear the news, I was a little shell shocked. In life you expect to live forever especially when you are still young. I didn't know Asia beyond the high school years due to me moving away but I do remember the good times we had when life was golden and we were teenagers. I wish her family an abundance of strength to get through these trying times.

To the Family of Asia Mays:

It is with our deepest sympathy to Asia’s family and friends regarding the loss of Asia. However; it is also our sincere belief in knowing that Asia will continually watch over her family and especially her son. Asia was a nurturer and felt she needed to always look after others. Whenever you want to feel her presence, just look up at the stars each night. Her smile was as bright as the stars and Asia would illuminate the Office of Black Student Services during her academic career here at Colorado State University. She was a support and a bright ray of encouragement to others whenever she came into the office. She did a wonderful job representing our office at various programs and events, was proud of being in the ROTC program and would step-up to the plate when called upon to do so. Asia did a work-shop on being physically fit for Black Student Services and she was enthusiastic and confident about her kick-boxing. Asia will always be remembered by our office. The beauty of a life well lived never dies. Please feel free to contact us at (970) 491-5781. We are located at Colorado State University, 204 Lory Student Center, Fort Collins, CO., 80523-8016.

To the Mays family,

We only had Asia here as a student at CSU in Pueblo for a short time this last year but she immediately stood out for her strength, positive attitude and perseverance. Looking at all the other responses it is obvious that a lot of people in her life felt the same way. She brought something of value to everyone around her. We'll miss her.

I had the pleasure and privelige to work with Asia for several months some years ago. She always struck me as beautiful, strong, and determined. I was lucky enough to see her fight once at the Paladium here in Denver. She managed to get me ringside seats. I was amazed at how that attractive young lady could be so effective in the fight. She won with a second round TKO. Although I haven't spoken with her for many months, her passing shocks me and leaves me asking why? My condolences to her family. She will be missed.

Laziness can literally kill you, so stop making excuses and give yourself permission to be great! Don't mistreat people on your way up because you never know if you will see them again if you are on your way down, love with passion and commitment, always smile with your heart, know that if you pick your nose someone is always watching, if you fart you just killed a small rodent, change your socks everyday, define your own success, and know that you can do all things through Christ Jesus that strengthens you. ~ Asia Mays

This is a quote from one of the most profound women I know, she taught me so many things from believing in myself and my dreams and encouraged me to pursue everything in life that I wanted...she has no idea what a mark she left on everyone's souls and hearts but we are very fortunate to have another angel watching over us guiding and protecting us! Her words speak so much truth it is unreal! She will be missed by all, but will live on through her son, her family, and through each one of us! We miss you Asia! *MWAH*

I have such fond memories of Asia as a student at Colorado State University. She would frequently visit the Office of Black Student Services to study, use the computers or just hang out. Asia always had such a beautiful smile that lit up the room when she entered and kept the room shining when she exited. She was beautiful both inside and out. My heart aches for you as her parents, family, little William and all of us who love her. May we all find comfort in our special memories of Asia and pass them on to her son, William so that he may have them to cheish as he grows older. Thank you Asia for making the world a better place by your presence. Now heaven has another angel to watch over us. Much love...

I was scared to even write anything because words cannot simply describe how much of a blessing Norman ,Kim, and Asia have been to me. I grew up in the same church and school district as the Mays family and always wanted to follow Asia's footsteps. She used to always tell me to keep my head in the books and GOD on my side and I would be fine. I too wanted to attented the Air Foce Academy and got a chance to shadow with Asia to do so. And now, I too am a kickboxer. She will always be with me through the dreams we both shared and her family will always be a part of my life.

Norman and Kim,
I cannot express the sorrow I feel for you. I remember back at Palmer on the Volleyball team with her. She was so supportive of me when I met her my freshmen year when I was learning the ropes. She was also the teammate that first and always called me Moose, and for some reason I have always remembered that. I cherished the times we shared in high school, the memories are so vivid. It was grand when we managed to catch up with each other again at CSU. I must admit, I even took several of her classes just so we could see each other more, since life there can be crazy. I just felt truly touched to have her as a friend. My family sends warm wishes and lots of prayers to you both and William. Times are tough but please let us know if there is anything we can do for you!!! You are in my prayers!!

She was such a beautiful girl that always had a smile ready for everyone she met. We shed tears with you on your loss of your darling Punkin. Asia's life was beautiful and it will go on forever in the hearts and memories of those she touched.

To the Mays family:

Words cannot express the sorrow I felt after hearing of Asia's passing. I met her freshman year at Palmer and we continued to be friends as we both graduated and went to the Academy. We fell out of touch after she left but I always considered myself very blessed to have called her a friend. She was an amazing person who had a glow from within. I was always impressed by her confidence, dedication, committment, and warmth. She poured herself into everything she did and never ceased to amaze me with what she could achieve. I will always treasure the memories I have of her. My wife and I will keep you and William in our prayers as you go through this difficult time. God Bless and please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you through this time.

The greatest womens track star from our years in high school from what I remember as if it were yesterday and such a wonderful woman that still continued to strive to be the best with what life brought to her. You will forever be missed!!

Mr. and Mrs. Mays,

No words can express the joy Asia brought to everyone she touched. her smile lit up the room as soon as she walked it. Just her smile alone made all my worries go away when I would see her smiling face. I miss working with her and regret the opportunity of becoming better friends was taken away from us. Mr. Mays, you have always shed light on those(young people) that you have connected with and I have never forgotten you. Asia is another beautiful soul that I will never forget. I send my aloha to you and your family, and will keep you in my prayers.... God bless

Asia, there is so much to say...but my heart can't formulate the words. Your spirit, determination, kindness, grace, smile and beauty will leave in this world a void. It was an honor knowing you, working with you, dreaming with you. Your dreams were so big, I believed them! You achieved so much in such a short span of life, yet there is so much left unfinished. We, your friends, will carry you on in our hearts forever. When we laugh we will think of you...when we cry, we will think of you...when challenged, we will think ouf you. Thank you for coming into our lives!

Asia, we go back to Gorman Middle School. You've motivated me in so many ways. You're intelligent, ambitious, beautiful, and strong. You'll always be remembered and I want you to know I've ALWAYS admired you. Rest peacefully and I love you.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

You were such a wonderful person and friend, but most of all Mother... we will all watch over little William and make sure that you will remain in his memory through stories and pictures... even though it's hard to accept and acknowledge, but you are in a better place... you are now our Angel... and you will watch and guide us forever... i love u girl...
