Awana Mae Stauffer, 94, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on February 2, 2022, peacefully at her home.

She was born on December 20, 1927, in Pike County, Illinois. Awana graduated from New Canton High School in New Canton, Illinois and Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois. She married Warren Cloyd Stauffer on June 11, 1947.

Awana is preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Eloise Bourque, Melvin (Bud) Ward, Lynette Parks, and Bette Howick; and her parents, Gertrude (Haskins) Ward and Giles Ward.

She is survived by her sons, Curt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeff and his wife, Suzanne Verville of Little Elm, Texas; grandson, Patrick Stauffer and his wife, Caroline Hand of Muncie, Indiana; granddaughter, Brianne Green and her husband, Brian Green of Dublin, Texas; great-grandson, Elliot Hand-Stauffer of Muncie, Indiana; sister-in-law, Anne Ward of Quincy, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved Scottie dog, Kayleigh.

Awana and Warren owned Commercial Printing in Kansas City, Missouri from 1967 until 1975, when the family and business moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Commercial Printing operated until 2005, when she and her family all retired and closed the shop. In the years before the print shop, Awana worked as an Elementary School Secretary in North Kansas City, Missouri. She was active in the Methodist Church, serving on many committees and singing in church choirs for many years.

She was a Den Leader in her sons' Cub Scout Pack. Awana loved gardening and didn't have a problem knocking on a stranger's door to ask if she could have a cutting for her garden. Years ago, her church, St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs, was looking for a fundraiser and she volunteered to organize the making of over 5000 pounds of peanut brittle for this fundraiser. Awana had a quick wit and had many 'isms' over the years.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Inurnment, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Awana's memory may be made to, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Music Department, 2111 Carlton Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
