Barkley Dale Heuser, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024. Born on November 23, 1951, to Dr. Gordon Heuser and Sara McKinsey Heuser, Barkley was a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs whose life was marked by integrity, joy, and devotion to his family and community.
Barkley graduated with honors from Wasson High School and Colorado College, where he demonstrated a lifelong commitment to excellence. He went on to earn his law degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, launching a distinguished legal career. As the co-founder of Heuser and Heuser, alongside his brother Gordon, Barkley was widely regarded as an exceptional trial lawyer, dedicating his life to serving others with skill and compassion. In addition, Barkley was one of the founding members and president of the Legacy Society, an organization dedicated to mentoring young attorneys.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Barkley especially loved baseball. He also had a competitive spirit, participating in numerous marathons and triathlons over the years. His love for athletics mirrored his zest for life-a man who embraced challenges with determination and heart.
Barkley's greatest joy was his family. His is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his son, Brennan; his daughter, Kristen; and his cherished grandchildren, Audrey, Mathew, and Makenzie. He also leaves behind his brothers, Charles, David, and Gordon; his sister, Sara; his favorite cousin, Mary Lee Parker; and a host of nieces and nephews. His deep love for family often inspired laughter and his famously "crazy" songs, bringing light and joy to those around him.
Barkley's warmth, humor, and unshakable love for life will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy is one of kindness, determination, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort and joy to all whose lives he touched.
Notification of a Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date.

I have known Barclay since high school and work with him as an attorney for almost 50 years. I laughed every time I was with him!

Barkley was the smartest and funniest friend I know. He got together with Jeff Frees and we met for FAC often. His quick wit and stories kept us laughing for hours. I miss them both.
