Benjamin Joseph Roina was born on May 29, 1974 in Oxford, England and passed away March 24, 2024 in Colorado Springs.
He was a Special Child from the beginning. He mainly lived most of his life in Colorado Springs. Ben was in Special Education classes while attending school. He graduated from Wasson High School in 1993. When he was 23, he was ready to move out and begin a new chapter in his life. When he was 25, he joined Dungarvin Inc. which oversaw the rest of his life. Five years ago, Ben moved back home and it was the best years we had with him being so close. Ben was always home from Friday after day program until Sunday evening and all holidays. Ben went to Dungarvin Day Program. He enjoyed his ride on the Springs Mobility Bus and meeting up with the staff and his friends at Dungarvin.
Ben's favorite activities were with his "Rocky Mountain Ninja Team." Special Olympics gave him an outlet to do his favorite sports, bowling, basketball and of course swimming. He continued until his health would not let him participate.
Ben was fun to be around. Always laughing and joking with people and teasing, especially with Taylor, Jackson and West. He loved to play his drums and listen with his CD player and headphones. His favorite song was Gratitude, by Earth Wind and Fire and was played repeatedly.
Ben was a huge fan of Dallas Cowboy Football Team, Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Team and the North Carolina State Wolfpack Basketball Team. Ben was also the best news reporter, he followed the news and then would let us know what was going on in the world. Ben loved to go out to eat and spend time with his parents and James, Lisa and their kids. Ben loved going to church and singing along or tapping his feet to the music. He was always the first one to find the chapter and verse we were studying. Ben also loved going to Easter Seals Camp in the summers. Ben also really liked to go to his Doctor appointments. He loved, Dr. Nweke who took great care of him. Funny but true, Ben would be disappointed if labs weren't ordered.
Ben was a true blessing to his family and all who knew him loved him. He was the sweetest, kindness person and will be dearly missed.
Ben is survived by his parents, Joe and Darlene Roina, his brother James Roina, sister-in-law Lisa Roina and their three children, Taylor, Jackson and West Roina. As well as Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and extended family members.

Ben was so strong! He endured by overcoming several different challenges that faced him in his life. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with Ben through The Resource Exchange. I worked with him for many years, until my health issues and had to quit.

Ben would always great you with a big smile. He would let you know he was doing well and making good choices.
He would say, "Christel, I´m doing good and making good choices!´ He was so proud about his achievements and success!

Ben was one of my favorite clients. I would enjoy visiting with him. He had a strong supportive team. Dungarvin staff took very good care of him and Ben loved Dungarvrin.

When Ben moved back home, he thrived at home with his parents. It was there, as an adult male, where he lived his life to the fullest. Ben loved attending day program through Dungarvrin. He loved everyone there and enjoyed his activities.

Ben was a strong, beautiful and courageous person.

I will miss you, Ben, but I´m so glad you are no longer in pain. Thank you for teaching me about courage and facing the battles. I thought of you ALOT during my health issues. You were always so brave. Thanks for teaching us. I enjoyed working for you, as working with you was a pleasure!

I will miss you, Benno!

RIP

Christel Alcorn.
