Bernie Martinez Obituary

September 18, 1930 - July 24, 2008 Bernie Martinez, 77, was a longtime Colorado Springs resident and business owner. He was born in Crested Butte, CO to Alfredo & Querina Martinez. He and his loving wife of 49 years, Juanita Natalie raised their beautiful family in the Springs where he was an active community advocate for Hispanics. Bernie was passionate in his patriotism to his country and his Spanish heritage and he was an avid fan of Notre Dame, the Boston Celtics as well as Mariachi music. Bernie founded the Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration for the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Bernie was preceded in death by Alfredo and Querina, Freddy Martinez, Lucy Meadows, Phillip Martinez, Johnny Martinez. He leaves behind his wife, Juanita Natalie, daughters; Bernadette (Harry) Herman of Colorado Springs, CO, Loretta (Arlen) Arguello of Pueblo West, CO, Maria Martinez of Escondido, CA and son; Christopher Martinez of New York, NY. Brothers; Charles Martinez, Alvin Anthony, and sister; Flora Amborn; 7 grandchildren & 1 great-granddaughter. Numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 28, 2008, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1830 S. Corona Avenue. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S.
