Brian Choi Obituary

Brian Choi, 26, passed away on March 10, 2007 in Colorado Springs. He was a great servant of GOD, great athlete, great son, great brother, great friend, great entrepreneur and a Colorado Springs resident since 1993. Brian was born on May 22, 1980 to Tae "Bruce" K. and Kyung "Janet" Ok (Chung) Choi in Seoul, Korea. Because of his great size and strength, Brian started playing football during his freshman year of high school as an offensive lineman in Austin, Texas and quickly made varsity squad. When he moved to Colorado Springs he retained his varsity status at Mitchell High School where he eventually graduated. He was given a football scholarship to the University of New Mexico and then to Montana State University. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Brian will be remembered for his strong CHRISTIAN beliefs, love for his mother Janet and family, kind heart, his fun loving nature with a unforgettable smile, great sense of humor, love for sports, ability to incorporate pink and salmon into his fashion, willingness to help others and to many as the "BIGGEST KOREAN" people have ever seen. Brian is survived by his father Bruce; brother Jason; extended family members: Mi Ae Cho, Mi Ji Cho and Tiffany Lee, friends and business clients. His mother Janet preceded him in death. We are comforted knowing he is with God and his mother Janet. A viewing will be from 9-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March, 15, 2007 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. A memorial fund in Brian's name has been established at Premier Bank, 1867 South Academy Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80916, Tel: 719-596-8888.

Hey Brian, sorry it took so long for me to say something, but I miss you buddy. Your phone number is still in my phone after all these years, I still wear pink in your honor as well. Thank you for being so good to me. RIP, gone but never forgotten.

I knew Brian from kindergarden till about 7th or 8th grade when they moved out of NJ, and i think they moved to either Colorado or Texas. Even back then he was colossal in comparison to the other CYO b-ball players, sorry it took me so long to find this out, but he will be missed, may he rest in peace.

Brian was such an inspiration to my son Jeff when he played at MSU. Jeff was the "new kid" on the line. Brian took him under his wing and taught him well. I also remember the big bear hugs he gave his mom after the first game I saw and I told Jeff that was the most important "play" of all he would learn from Brian. Love your family, and Brian certainly did that. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Brian's passing. My heart and prayers go out to all his family. He was my son's Big Brother when Brian was in college in Bozeman. Alex looked up to him and loved him very much. We all appreciated the energy and compassion that Brian displayed by signing up to be a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters and in his relationship with our family. We are lucky to have known him. Brian always spoke highly of his whole family and especially his parents. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My wife and I loved seeing Brian after the games. Because his parents could not make all of the games my wife (who weighs 106 lbs) would tell Brian that she would be his surogate mom which Brian found very amusing. He was so approachable and so nice. Definetely one of our favorite Bobcats. He will be missed.

Brian was a gentle giant. His size was only to accommodate such a big, loving heart. We will all grieve the loss of Brian but also celebrate the life he lived.

I am very sorry for your loss! I was so hurt when my Dad called me yesterday morning, to let me know what he had read. Brian and I went to high school together, he was a year older than me. We went to Brians senior prom together and had a wonderful time. I will always remember his smiling face!

I had the pleasure of meeting Brian while I was attending MSU, through my husband Mike who also played on the online. Brian truly was a very caring person with an amazing smile and heart. I still smile thinking about a time when Brian gave me a ride to campus and drove right to the front door of the building I had class at. Brian was an amazing athlete and I am proud to have met him. He will be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathies go out to your family,

We are deeply sorry to hear of Brian's passing. Although we never got to really know Brian, it was a pleasure meeting and conversing with him when he escorted our daughter Michelle, to the Mitchell High School Prom. His gracious demeanor, and solemn respectfullness, were a lasting testament to his Korean culture; and for that we are grateful. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
