Caitlin Brunton Obituary

Brunton

Caitlin C.

(Pumphrey) Brunton

October 30, 1982

January 18, 2022

Caitlin Caroline Brunton, nee Caitlin Caroline Pumphrey, age 39, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Steven Brunton, and their son, Alexander Brunton, of Topsfield, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Hetherwick ("Hether") Cahill, her brother-in-law, Patrick Cahill, her nephew, Henry Cahill, and her niece, Harper Cahill, of Brookline, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her mother, Janet Hetherwick Pumphrey, and her step-father, Dr. Albert B. Harper, of Lenox, Massachusetts; and by her father, Dr. Roger D. Pumphrey, and her step-mother, Dr. Lisa Toepp, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She also leaves her step-brother, Jacob ("Jake") Harper, his wife, Jaclyn ("Jackie") Harper, and their children, Lily and Logan Harper of McLean, Virginia.

Caitlin graduated from Lenox Memorial High School, from Berkshire Community College, from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and received her Master's Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

Caitlin and Steve were married in 2012 in Steve's hometown, South Queensferry, Scotland, and the light of their lives, Alex, was born in 2014.

She will be remembered by her many friends and extended family for her upbeat attitude, her beautiful smile, and her infectious laugh. Caitlin lit up every room she walked into. One of her friends said that "Caitlin has always been such a ray of sunshine."

Her greatest pleasures were pool days with Alex; trips to Hilton Head with her in-laws, Carol and Doug Brunton; going to Tanglewood; Broadway musicals; seeking out the perfect lobster roll; enjoying spa days with her mother and sister; and finding the perfect gifts for the people she loved.

Because of covid, there will be a private, family funeral in Lenox. In addition, in the spring there will be a memorial service celebrating Caitlin's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Neurology Department Critical Care Division, http://tinyurl.com/MGHNeuroICU or: Mass General Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
