Carol Lee Comes peacefully entered eternal life August 5th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 11th, 1934, in Denver, CO. She was the daughter of Joseph Monroe Turinetti and Virginia Muriel Newman and was raised by Joe & Ruth; her adopted mother was Ruth Verda Huffman.
Carol was a dedicated wife and mother of five children, married over 64 years to Robert George I. She loved travelling around the world with her family, reading (sometimes up to 5 books a day), family dinners (she was an amazing cook), fine restaurants, Pam's peanut butter fudge, Moscato, Turkish Novellas (and the men!), Justin Baldoni (she said he's "just the way she likes 'em"), cappuccinos, Il Volo, watching movies (she said Birdcage was one of her favorites), Italian bread and wine and lived life to the fullest. Her class and style were flawless, she was in a constant state of reinventing her style, always redecorating her home and updating her wardrobe to match the times. Her life was marked by her deep Christian Faith and profound dedication to her family. Carol was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she also enjoyed attending Pathfinders Classes and at Liberty Heights where she enjoyed Bible Study and attending Sunday services.
Carol was the beloved matriarch of her family, survived by her four children, Pamela Jo Knudson, Robert George Comes II, Sheryl Lynn Comes and Michelle Ann Lujan, along with her extended family of spouses (Gina, Mike, Amy, Thomas) grandchildren (Ange, Brian, Lora, Tyler, Trevor, Jessica, Suzi, Kristina, Shelby, Henry, Sebastian, Alexa, Joey, Eliza, Anthony) and great-grandchildren (Parker, Haylea, Harper, Hunter, Veronica, Ben, Mikey, Scarlett-Penelope, Emilio, Delilah, Chloe, LilyAna). She was preceded in death by her husband Robert George Comes I, and daughter, Shawni Lee Hall as well as her three 1/2 siblings Bill, Patsy and Chuck.
Carol was a vibrant personality, cherished her Italian heritage that included trips to Italy with her family. She had a fun-loving spirit, deep Christian faith, and a profound dedication to her family and children. It has been said by her family that her occupation was "Domestic Engineer", and her industry was "Family & Fun".
On Thursday Sep 11th, which would have been Carol's 91st birthday, there will be a car procession starting at 12:45 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3300 W. Kenyon Ave, Denver CO 80236, followed by a short ceremony. Then we will have a celebration of life on Friday Sep 12th at 11:00 AM at Liberty Heights - Academy Lounge, 12105 Ambassador Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80921 where we will have food, drinks and desserts.
In the end she said, "I had a good life, I just want my family to have peace!"
