Cynthia Browne Obituary

Cynthia Browne passed away unexpectedly April 1 in Colorado Springs as the result of an abdominal aneurysm. Cynthia was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Martha Jane and Dr. Henry Crowther. She married her husband, Robert Browne on June 30, 1956. She was a graduate of the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is survived by her husband, Bobby, her seven children: Debbie Swan, Cheryl Browne, Linda Browne, Audrey Burke (Alan), Ted Browne (Theresa), Chris Browne (Bettina), Sarah Yamada (Darren) her grandchildren: Samantha, Matthew, Chase, Carson, Cole, Sofia and Elena, and her sisters: Audrey Freeborn and Becky O'Rourke (Tom). She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joanne Leiser, and her brothers-in-law, Bob Leiser and Bill Freeborn. Cynthia spent her early years in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. After marriage, she lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, and Farmington Hills, Michigan. She moved to Colorado Springs (her favorite place) in 1977. She also lived abroad for several years in Malaysia and Ireland. The most important thing in Cynthia's life was her family and friends. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother. She had another passion, volunteering, for which she found time, even with seven children in the house. While living in Colorado Springs, she volunteered for many years at Memorial Hospital and later worked there as the Gift Shop Manager. She enjoyed visiting family, reading, traveling, playing bridge, and watching the Broncos. Cynthia was adored by her family and friends and she reciprocated with unconditional love. She will also be remembered for her volunteer spirit, her enthusiasm for everything she did, and her unending optimism. She is remembered by many of her children's friends as their "second Mom". Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Cynthia's Life at an open house in her home on Saturday, April 27th from 1-5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Cynthia's name to the charity of your choice. We will greatly miss this beautiful and very special lady. We know she will enjoy eternal peace and happiness.

I am truly saddened by Cynthia's departure. She was a special person with a BIG warm heart that reaches out to everyone. We will miss her.

I met her and her husband, Bob, when Bob was our Managing Director at Maxtor in Penang, Malaysia in the 80's. We lost contact when Bob returned to the US. I decided to Google to try to re-connect with the Brownes and stumbled upon this guest book.

Bob, I am truly sorry about your loss. If you are reading this posting and would like to re-connect, my email address is [email protected]

We were neighbors of Cynthia and Bob and their first six children (loved hearing about the birth of the 7th!) in Farmington Hills, Michigan from 1969 to 1972, when we moved to KY (we are now back in PA, our home state). Cynthia was the most open, welcoming person I ever met. All our children loved her. Thanks to all who signed this book--such wonderful memories. Love to all the family she left behind.

We have good memories of Cynthia when we lived in CS. Digital parties when Bob was plant manager were so
much fun. We especially remember spending time with
Cynthia in Germany one Summer. She always had a good
story to tell to a few people or a large group. Our sincere
condolences to the entire Brown family. Georgia &Ovide Fortier, Albuquerque, NM

Audrey, the first time I met your mom was over the telephone when you and Al lived in Warrensburg. I remember her saying to me, "we haven't met but I love you because you love my children." What a wonderful woman. Her spirit lives on in your whole family. Our deepest sympathies to all of you.

Cindy and Bobby opened there home to Cheryl's college friends on many occasions. I have fond memories of a Thanksgiving at the Brownes. In fact that holiday was one of only 2 that I was not home. Cindy made it feel like family.....her big smile and warm way was infectious! I am so sorry that she has left this earth but am so happy to have known her. May God bring the Brownes peace at this difficult time.

I am one of those mentioned who considered Cynthia to be a second mom. I'm completely shocked and saddened by this. But I'll always remember her the way I think she lived-- happy and so completely full of life. I have such great memories of "Mom"-- bailing us out of the principal's office after Junior Day in high school, or dancing like there was no tomorrow at my wedding reception. I loved her dearly. Rest in Peace, Momma Browne, you enriched my life and I thank you for it. I love you.
