Dale DeWeese Obituary

Dale Charles DeWeese, 89, of Jefferson City, Missouri, quietly went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at his residence at Heisinger Bluffs. He was born on June 29, 1918, near Casstown in rural Ohio, the son of Ernest and Gertrude Webb DeWeese. He was married on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1953, in Neodesha, Kansas to Nada Maxine Shoop who survives at the home. He spent his early years on the farm and then joined the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the Bushmasters (Jungle Fighters) in Panama and trained in the jungles of Panama. While there he was transferred to the Army Air Corps and trained for Military Police work at Quarry Heights Depot in Panama City. Upon his return to the United States, he was assigned to Headquarters, 2nd Air Force, Ent Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo. where he worked jointly with his civilian counterparts. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to Ohio for a short time. At the invitation of the Colorado Springs Police Chief, he returned to Colorado Springs and joined the police force where he remained for twenty-two years. His duties were varied, but his primary duty was to drive the police chief, I.B. "Dad" Bruce, a duty he performed for ten years. On retirement from the police department, he worked as a courier for the First National Bank until health issues forces his full retirement from the work force. He and Nada made their home in Colorado Springs until October, 2005, when they moved to Jefferson City. Dale loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with friends and family. He spent many leisure hours in his woodworking shop and doing oil paintings. His special times were with family and friends celebrating special events and just visiting. Mr. DeWeese was a member of Colorado Springs Lodge No. 104, A.F.& A.M.; Jefferson City Lodge No. 43, A.F.& A.M.; Scottish Rite and Coordinated Bodies, Denver, Colo.; Skyway Baptist Church (later Fellowship of the Rockies) in Colorado Springs; and First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, Missouri. Other survivors include seven nieces and their husbands, Karen and Virgil Agne, West Milton, Ohio; Mary Kay and Randy Combs, Troy, Ohio; Barbara Hess, St. Joseph, Mo.; Betty Lou and Kenneth Rice, Craig, Colo.; Anita and Craig Jones, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; Donna Mae and Timothy Ward, St. Joseph, Mo.; and Michelle M. and Jason Ford, Russellville, Mo.; two nephews and their wives, Jerome H., II, and Debra Kreller, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Michael E. and Abigail Duke, Linn, Mo.; several great-nieces; one sister-in-law and her husband, Norma and Dwight Duke, Knob Noster, Mo.; and one brother-in-law, Jerome H. Kreller, St. Joseph, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois Honeyman. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Sager and the Rev. Stewart McWilliams officiating.Private family entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Masonic Rites conducted at 7 p.m. by Jefferson Lodge No. 43, A.F.& A.M.
