Dana Fordyce Obituary

Dana Bruce Fordyce passed away suddenly at his home December 6, 2016. Born February 3, 1948 to Kenneth and Elinor Fordyce in Fairfield Iowa. He joined the Navy after graduating from Fairfield High School and served his country from 1967 to 1978 active duty and 4 more years in the Navy Reserves after moving to Colorado. He met the love of his life in 1975, they were married in 1976. Bonnie and Dana had no children of their own but 15 nieces and nephews and 23 greats who have filled the void with their love and antics! They would tell you he was a wise man but he pulled a lot of pranks on them.



Dana was a heavy equipment operator and loved "playing in the dirt", last working for Meeske Excavating Company for many years.



He loved God, family, friends and his many dogs over the years, current Maudie Pot. Birds from miles around came for the feast he put out each morning. He could fix just about anything, he always said it was from his early farm upbringing. He made a great Santa Claus and brought joy to many kids as well as adults. Bowling was a big part of his life and he made lifelong good friends from those days. He had so many friends and he felt "to have a friend you have to be one". Soft spoken and kind he had a work ethic that would not bend and a way of getting his point across without harshness.



He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, two brothers, Gene (Linda), Gordon (Karen) Fordyce and sister Jane (Ronnie) Jackson, Aunt Martha Carlson and the many nieces and nephews.



A celebration of life service will be held at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 on Saturday, December 17 at 11 AM.



In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dana's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or 4 Paws Rescue, Inc.
