DANIEL "POPPA" DIRK CODDINGTON
November 10, 1954 January 17, 2019
Daniel Dirk "Poppa" Coddington, 64 of Colorado Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2019.
Dan was born November 10, 1954 in Portland, OR. He was the first child of Joe D. and Marilyn J. Coddington (Collins). Dan grew up in the Air Force community. He moved with his family to Colorado Springs in 1970, where he graduated from Widefield High School. He graduated from Western State in Gunnison majoring in teaching and physical education. He was a teacher at Julesburg High School. He then moved his family to Colorado Springs where he started a local business.
Dan grew up in Security Christian Church and then became a member at Woodmen Valley Chapel. Dan loved coaching middle school sports, football, fishing, Christmas, traveling, Motown music and most of all enjoying his family. He was a very devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who deeply loved his family and friends. He was a man of integrity, grace and dignity who lived his life not to glorify himself, but to give all glory to God. The words describe what he did, but it was the way in which he brought great love, kindness, intelligence and humor into what he did that we most remember and treasure.
Dan is proceeded in death by his father Joe D. Coddington, stepfather Frank Jones and former wife Janet J. (Henry) Coddington.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory to his mother: Marilyn and stepfather Ed Collins, wife: Lisa Coddington, children: Scott (Janea) Coddington, Sarah (Mike) Jones, Jennifer (Henry) Griffin, Jeff (Megan) Henry, brothers: Rob (Jill) Coddington, Jim (Carol) Coddington, Ken Coddington, Dean Jones, sisters: Cathy Gulledge, Linda Killian, grandchildren: Noah & Kaitlyn Coddington, Nate & Zach Griffin, Makenna, Travis & Ryan Jones, James, Jonathan and Jackson Henry along with many nieces , nephews and extented family.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres" (1 Corinthians 13) This passage captures the essence of Dan. He is now enjoying "his greatest accomplishment" of sharing his love with our Lord in Heaven.
He was so loved by his family & friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Our memories and faith in our Heavenly Father comfort us as we deal with our loss.
Memorial Services will be at 11am on Saturday February 2, 2019 at Rocky Mountain Calvary, 4285 N. Academy Blvd, CS CO followed by a graveside service at Memorial Gardens.

I met Dan in 2003 in Las Vegas and we work on the XGEM Hybrid Electric Vehicle financing as it was his passion as well as mind to bring this infrastructure to market. Sorry that he was not able to complete the journey. He was always truthful to me and helped in identifying who was real and who was not. Going to miss our conversations. The best to his family as that was most important to him
