went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2012 after battling lung cancer. David was born on December 11, 1947 in Ada, OK to Calvin David and Mercile Beatrice Luttrell. He was raised in Houston, TX where he graduated from Sam Houston High School and attended the University of Houston. David then answered his call to duty and joined the Navy. After serving one year in the area of DaNang, Vietnam, he earned the Vietnamese Medal of Honor for his service. In 1972, David finished his Navy career and set out for north Texas to begin his career in the private world. David is survived by his wife, Connie Malone Luttrell of Conroe; daughter, Amber White of Pearland; sons, Marcus Luttrell of Tomball and Morgan Luttrell of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Kayla, Jessy, and Anthony of Pearland, and Axe and Addie of Tomball; brothers, Phillip Allan Luttrell and family of Spring, Don Luttrell and family of Benton, LA; sister, Cheryl Wilson and family of Greenville, TX; and many close friends and loved ones. A celebration of David's life will be held at Malone's Pub in Conroe at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lung Cancer Society in David's honor. Those wishing to post tributes to the family may do so at www.eickenhorstfuneral.com.

Wished I could have spent more time with you Dave but I really enjoyed the time we spent together chasing boundaries on Exxonmobil properties and bouncing around the ATV listening to your stories. I will miss you.

When I was going through such pain and fear as a mother with my Marine fighting in Afghan, David sat and talked to me thru my tears on a few occasions. He helped turn those tears in to smiles. We sat one day, for 2 hours and talked about our sons, God, and life. It was one of the most life touching conversations I have ever had. I am so grateful he touched my life that day.

Many memories of David throughout the years as I taught his boys the martial arts. Private conversations about his love for them and how important family was as well as honor and love for country. Always a smile on his face, a big hug and asked if I was ok. Will miss him and remember him as a good friend.
David is also talked about in my book "Training Heroes" which will also help him to be remembered forever.
God Bless his family during this time - RIP buddy !
